Ahoy and GM, weary traveler.
Traversing the vast expanse of the world’s largest NFT marketplace has become a bit daunting, hasn’t it?
Well fret not. I’ve been venturing far and wide with the simple goal of unearthing the most innovative and awe-inspiring NFT projects out there!
In this weekly column, I’ll share all sorts of discoveries with you — big, small, new and old. So all aboard the S.S. WAGMI to marvel at what I’ve found whilst Sailing the OpenSea …
Metascapes
Metascapes is a project that mixes photography and AI to create generative landscapes. The collection is currently still minting, with around 25% of the total supply of 3,333 NFTs still available.
This innovative new project was collaboratively created by top-tier photographers like Cath Simard, Iurie Belegurschi, and Ryan Newburn and is curated by Versus Labs. It costs 0.33 ETH to mint a fresh new Metascape, or you can pick one up on the OpenSea floor for 0.2 ETH.
Kafuru
Karafuru is a new PFP project created by Museum of Toys and Indonesian illustrator Wede. Featuring 5,555 generative NFTs, the project is still currently in its presale phase with the public sale set to go live Feb. 5 at 9 a.m. ET.
This vibrant new collection is billed by its creators as a “magical space where colors reign supreme and everyone just wants to have fun.” In just over a month, the project has received widespread support within the NFT community, bringing the collection of unrevealed NFTs to a whopping 4 ETH. When the public sale opens, the mint price will be set at 0.5 ETH.
Items
Items is an ongoing collection born from the mind of the talented multimedia artist Miguelgarest. Currently comprised of 12 NFTs, the collection consists of robots, instruments, games, vintage electronics, and other modern and imaginary devices.
Over the past year, Miguelgarest has released a wide variety of unique, cute animated NFTs. As his numerous projects continue to bring new collectors into his community, Items stands alone as a mish-mosh of his 1/1 ideas. The current floor is 5 ETH.
YOU
YOU is a project from RAC and Reisinger Andrés that was originally released via Nifty Gateway. The collection marks the second NFT collaboration between the two and features eight 100-edition pieces and two 1/1s.
The collection is based around the idea of objects left behind from previous relationships — those small details that feel completely mundane but intensely personal. The current OpenSea floor is 0.11 ETH, but pieces from the YOU collection can still be purchased on Nifty Gateway for as low as $400.
Larva Lads
Larva Lads is a PFP project inspired by the ever-popular CryptoPunks. The collection consists of 10,000 NFTs that are fully on-chain and randomly generated.
We recently featured Larva Lads in our list of best NFT started projects under $1,000 — and for good reason. The project not only plays off of Larva Labs’ iconic characters but also is licensed as CC0 public domain; meaning anyone in the world can use the Larva Lads IP freely. The current floor is 0.135 ETH.
Screens
Screens created by Thomas Lin Pedersen is the latest collection minted via the Art Blocks Curated platform. Featuring 1,000 generative NFTs, each piece within the collection mimics the screen printing process by rendering and applying a single color at a time to a master image
This latest from Lin Pedersen is inspired by the aesthetics inherent in screen printing along with the compositions and colors of both Bauhaus, Constructivism, and pulp fiction sci-fi covers. Considering the collection dropped as part of the Art Blocks Curated platform, it’s no wonder the current floor has reached 3.39 ETH.
Timeless Characters
Timeless Characters is a PFP project released as an extension of the Treeverse — a pixel-themed metaverse experience created by NFT collector/influencer Loopify Created by multimedia artist VIII, each of the 9,421 Characters can be used as a skin inside of Treeverse.
These Timeless Characters were unveiled at a time in the PFP market before Anime-inspired projects had fully taken off. As each piece within this collection not only presents a unique piece of art, but also utility in the continuously evolving Treeverse, it’s a bit of a surprise that the current floor sits at 0.76 ETH.
