Upcoming Drops: February 27 – March 5

Let’s face it: The NFT space moves really fast. Considering how quickly things can change in the metaverse, a week in NFTs might as well be a month IRL.

Don’t get us wrong — the more people onboarded into the space, the merrier. But because of the constant influx of great art and ideas, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with all the news, launches, and general happenings.

Well, you can put the days of endless Twitter and Discord scrolling behind you as we pull together a weekly list of upcoming NFT drops you definitely don’t want to miss. Here’s what to look out for this week.

Shari

Why: Shari — which refers to both cooked white rice and the tiny pieces of sacred bones of the Buddha — is the culmination of four years of work from Japanese crypto-art pioneer Mera Takeru. The flashing skull GIF NFTs that make up this collection celebrate the cycle of life and death and its correspondence to the repetition of zero and one in the digital world.

Why: Inspired by the work of James Kerry Marshall and Jean-Michel Basquiat, Nick Davis’ works have come to be seen as a reflection of the raw emotions that Black Americans experience as they navigate the joys and struggles of everyday life. Although Davis passed away on December 16, 2022, at age 31, this collection will keep his legacy alive. Fifty percent of the proceeds will be donated to his wife to ensure she can continue to carry on his memory and love for art.

Through the Ecosapiens “impact-to-earn” model, holders of the project can “evolve” their NFTs every week for eight consecutive weeks. By fully leveling up an Ecosapien NFT, users will offset 28 tons of carbon and automatically gain access to all future Ecosapiens drops.
