{"id":20951,"date":"2023-08-09T22:53:59","date_gmt":"2023-08-09T22:53:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nftandcrypto-news.com\/nft\/apples-new-ai-feature-lets-you-clone-your-voice\/"},"modified":"2023-08-09T22:54:04","modified_gmt":"2023-08-09T22:54:04","slug":"apples-new-ai-feature-lets-you-clone-your-voice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nftandcrypto-news.com\/nft\/apples-new-ai-feature-lets-you-clone-your-voice\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple\u2019s New AI Feature Lets You Clone Your Voice"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"\">Apple released a new feature this week as part of its ongoing iOS 17 public beta \u2013 the ability to clone your voice and use it across the iPhone\u2019s native and third-party communication applications.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>Personal Voice<\/em> for the iPhone uses artificial intelligence (AI) to create a near-exact replica of your voice that can then be stored on the phone, designed to work alongside that Apple refers to as \u201con-device machine learning\u201d to help ensure user privacy.<\/p>\n<p>Apple first teased these new software features back in May that would be specifically catered to cognitive, vision, hearing, and mobile accessibility, which were expected to release later this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The following month, the Cupertino-based tech company first announced iOS17 at WWDC23, its annual developers conference, where it spoke in more detail about new features \u2013 Contact Posters, Live Voicemail, FaceTime audio and video messages, Personal Voice, and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-personal-voice\">What is \u2018Personal Voice?\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Last month, Apple dropped the second iOS 17 public beta release, which added Personal Voice<em> <\/em>to its growing lineup of previously dropped features, including, but not limited to Contact Posters, Live Voicemail, and StandBy Mode.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For users at risk of losing their ability to speak, including those who have been diagnosed with ALS or other conditions that progressively impact an individual\u2019s speaking ability, Personal Voice<em> <\/em>is that bridge, serving as a speech accessibility feature that uses on-device machine learning that invites users to read a randomized set of text prompts that allow for the device to capture the individual\u2019s voice.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cAccessibility is part of everything we do at Apple,\u201d said Sarah Herrlinger, Apple\u2019s senior director of Global Accessibility Policy and Initiatives in a press release. \u201cThese groundbreaking features were designed with feedback from members of disability communities every step of the way, to support a diverse set of users and help people connect in new ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On Tuesday, CNET\u2019s Nelson Aguilar shared his experience as he tested out the new Personal Voice feature, which lives under <em>Settings \u2192 Accessibility \u2192 Live Speech \u2192 Voices \u2192 Personal Voice<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ll have to read out loud 150 phrases, which differ in length,\u201d he said, noting that if you make a mistake during recording, you can simply hit the record button to re-record the phrase.
