There’s nothing quite like the feeling of waking up on a Monday and realizing you missed out on some incredible drops over the weekend.

Don’t go FOMOing into anything just yet though, because every Monday, we’re bringing you a roundup of the art, collectibles, airdrops and more you missed while you were away.

On the evening of Feb. 4, BuzzFeed doxxed the founders of Bored Ape Yacht Club. The journalist behind the BuzzFeed piece, senior technology reporter Katie Notopoulos, indicated that the doxxing was justified — necessary, even — in order to protect members of the buying public.

In the article, Notopoulos noted that the collection was so wildly successful, and received such widespread support, that the continued anonymity of the founders was untenable. The NFT community, on the other hand — which is filled with anonymous and pseudonymous creatives and investors — was split on whether or not the decision was truly necessary or even ethical. Last week, Larva Labs, the creators of the ever-popular CryptoPunks NFT project, came under fire for the way they handled a situation regarding an NFT project called V1 Punks. The project, which was born from the original CryptoPunks smart contract, has now been completely removed from OpenSea.

In a move that was condemned by many members of the NFT community, Larva Labs’ cofounder John Watkinson sold off his stock of V1 Punks. Then, days after selling, the team attempted to blacklist the budding project. It quickly became apparent, even to the company itself, that Watkinson’s actions were unethical — prompting a swift response and apology from the company via Discord.

Yet in the same statement, Larva Labs announced that they would still ultimately be taking legal action against V1 Punks, and we’ve seen the effects of this decision already with this OpenSea takedown. To learn more, read our full article on the Larva Labs x V1 Punks controversy here.

— RTFKT Studios (@RTFKTstudios) February 4, 2022

Over the weekend RTFKT initiated a massive airdrop. After taking a snapshot of all the wallets holding a piece from both their Clone X, Clone X Mintvial, and Space Pod NFT collections on Feb. 3, the company unveiled two collector rewards: MNLTH & PodX.

MNLTH came in the form of 20,000 mysterious 3D loot box. Marked with both Nike and RTFKTs logos, the companies have both continued to be intentionally cryptic about what the box might hold.

PodX, which also has a supply of 20,000, is the new core of RTFKT Pod ecosystem. The new collection is apparently dedicated to 3D and AR-enabled RTFKT rooms, experiences, furniture design, and more and powered with Cyber.
